What an astute and perceptive review of Abu Srour's prose poem. You have framed the genre perfectly and in doing so resolved my own inchoate critique of Cresswell's review. Although I do not speak Arabic my impression is that Luke Leafgren has contributed enormously in the English translation through his sensitivity to the issues you raise (without detracting one iota of credit from Abu Srour's accomplishment).
